PACS Group, the Salt Lake City-based skilled nursing operator trading on the NYSE, has struck a definitive agreement to take over the operations of 34 skilled nursing facilities from Eduro Healthcare, a family-owned company with nearly two decades of experience serving seniors. The deal spans six states — Texas, Montana, South Dakota, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Utah — with Texas representing the bulk of the acquisition at 22 facilities, followed by six in Montana and three in South Dakota.
The transaction signals continued consolidation pressure within the skilled nursing sector, where regional and family-owned operators increasingly face capital constraints and regulatory burdens that make scale a competitive necessity. Eduro's willingness to exit after nearly 20 years underscores a broader industry dynamic: smaller operators are finding it harder to invest in the staffing, technology, and compliance infrastructure that larger publicly traded platforms can more readily finance.
